Precision defense
against the unmanned
aerial threat
Modern warfare operates under a new calculus. Small unmanned aircraft — commercially available, inexpensive to produce, and devastatingly effective — have fundamentally altered the equation of force. A significant share of frontline casualties now traces directly to drone strikes. The threat proliferates faster than any legacy system was designed to counter.
The response to date has been economically irrational. Expensive kinetic interceptors — systems costing hundreds of thousands of dollars per engagement — are routinely deployed against targets worth a fraction of that cost. Every intercept deepens the deficit. At scale, this approach is unsustainable for any force, regardless of resources or budget.
VERTOUX exists to resolve this fundamental asymmetry. We build guided micro-missiles for counter-UAS defense: precision interceptors engineered from the ground up for affordability, accuracy, and production at volume. Each missile costs less than ten thousand dollars — roughly twenty-five times cheaper than existing solutions — and delivers fully guided, hit-to-kill performance against small, fast, low-flying drones across the most demanding threat classifications.
The core of the system is a portable missile battery. Each pod contains fifteen guided micro-missiles in a compact, field-deployable form factor. The pod is the atomic unit of counter-drone firepower — small enough for a single operator to carry and deploy, lethal enough to saturate an entire threat volume in a single engagement sequence.
Engagement range exceeds one thousand meters. Each micro-missile achieves fully autonomous guided flight through onboard guidance, navigation, and control systems derived from the forefront of swarm-robotics and autonomous-systems research. After launch, no operator input is required. The missile tracks, closes, and destroys through direct hit-to-kill — the most demanding and most reliable intercept method available. This is not area suppression or proximity-fuse attrition. This is a guided projectile closing on a maneuvering target and destroying it through kinetic impact.
The system targets small, light, fast, and low-flying drones across the most challenging threat classifications. These are the targets that existing air defense was never designed for — the ones that slip beneath radar coverage, maneuver below engagement envelopes, and arrive in numbers that overwhelm point-defense systems. VERTOUX was designed specifically to defeat them.
VERTOUX designed the missile battery for combined-arms integration from the earliest design phase. The system launches from unmanned aerial vehicles for air-to-air intercept — a drone that kills other drones. It mounts on ground vehicles for mobile, organic air defense that moves with the maneuver element. It deploys from boats for maritime counter-drone operations across littoral and blue-water environments.
Three distinct configurations address the full spectrum of tactical need. Mounted variants integrate onto vehicle and drone platforms for persistent, mobile defense — continuous coverage that travels with the force. Dismounted variants provide infantry with portable, organic counter-UAS capability without requiring a dedicated air defense unit or external support. Low-collateral variants are specifically engineered for engagements where minimizing unintended damage is paramount: urban environments, operations in close proximity to friendly forces, and civilian-adjacent scenarios where overshoot or fragmentation would be unacceptable.
This platform versatility is architectural, not aspirational. The pod geometry, guidance system, and launch mechanism were designed from inception to accommodate multiple deployment modes across multiple domains. The result is a single weapon family that operates from forward operating bases to maritime patrol routes to the contested airspace above ground maneuver elements — the same core interceptor, adapted to the platform without redesign, without compromise.
Radical affordability. Less than ten thousand dollars per interceptor. In a domain where million-dollar missiles are routinely expended against hundred-dollar drones, VERTOUX inverts the cost equation entirely. Affordable enough to field at scale, precise enough to make every round count. The economics of drone defense, rebuilt from first principles. Twenty-five times cheaper than what exists today — not as a concession in performance, but as a design requirement from the first sketch.
Guidance precision. Every micro-missile achieves fully guided flight and direct hit-to-kill engagement. The guidance, navigation, and control system draws on deep expertise in swarm robotics and autonomous systems — technology originally developed for autonomous flight at one of the world's largest aerospace manufacturers, now applied to the hardest intercept problem in modern warfare. This is not proximity-fuse attrition. This is not saturation fire hoping for a statistical outcome. This is a guided projectile autonomously tracking a maneuvering target and destroying it through kinetic impact, every time.
Scalable production. The micro-missile is designed for mass manufacture from the outset. Not a bespoke prototype adapted for production after the fact, but a weapon conceived from its first engineering trade study to be built at volume. Every design decision — materials selection, component geometry, guidance electronics, assembly process — optimizes for producibility alongside performance. Affordability without manufacturing scale is a promise that can never be kept. VERTOUX delivers both by making them the same thing.
Validated through development. More than sixty end-user interviews across joint military forces shaped the requirements before the first prototype was built. Within twelve months of focused development: spin-stabilized rocket builds, guided missile prototypes, surface-to-air interceptor testing, and fully guided flight achieving direct hit-to-kill. A team of ten full-time engineers, working from a dedicated seventeen-thousand-square-foot headquarters facility, with co-founders whose expertise spans aerospace vehicle design, machine-learning-based optimization, swarm robotics, and autonomous-systems guidance, navigation, and control. Not a concept. Not a slide deck. A fielded capability under active development.
